THE YEAR THAT
John serenaded Susie at the Porchetta Party

Shiraz is what the Oliver’s love and it is in Shiraz that they trust. A full-bodied, rich wine; dark chocolate and mocha notes fill the nose, while the palate is all mulberries, dutch liquorice and cacao. It will reward aging, just as the same sweet patch of dirt has rewarded the Oliver family for generations.

2017 was a year where we had some magnificent rains during spring, so the soil profiles were full to the brim come budburst. This meant we had a bumper crop year, with a long slow ripening period.

WHAT THE WRITERS HAVE TO SAY

Qwine 2017

Hearty stuff. This is like getting a big cuddle from your big and burly Uncle Bob. Upon opening it was like a caged lion - in your face. The Tony Abbott shirt fronting type (not that big Tone ever follows through with his words). Politics and wine reviews don’t mix. Moving on... Bold dark fruit plus dark chocolate on the 70% cocoa side. Blackberries and mulberries walk at ease with star anise chipping away before ribs of tannin roll in. The generosity is what makes this wine so appealing and inviting.Over two days of tasting it continued to soften. Some more time in bottle will see it shine furthermore. Interestingly, cedar and caramel were prominent on the first day but dissolved to be almost invisible on the second. This is cold night, big food and big cuddle sort of stuff. Me likey.
